    PFM’s Management and Budget Consulting practice (PFM Group Consulting) helps state and local governments across the nation tackle some of their toughest fiscal and operational challenges.  In just the last few years, PFM Group Consulting has led the following high-profile projects at the cutting edge of state and local government:

     

    • Directing the National Resource Network, a multi-year, federally funded initiative to provide a wide range of direct assistance to help turn around economically challenged local governments (www.nationalresourcenetwork.org);
    • Providing expert technical assistance to the City of New Orleans on issues ranging from the development of the City budget to reforms in the criminal justice system;
    • Creating and helping to implement comprehensive ten-year financial plans for the City of Baltimore and the City of Providence;
    • Developing a child welfare policy and procedure manual for Los Angeles County;
    • Implementing a consensus approach to public pension reform in both Chattanooga and Lexington, Kentucky;
    • Delivering budget and operational support to fiscally distressed school districts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

    Responsibilities

    PFM’s New Orleans office is seeking an Administrative Assistant. This role offers an excellent opportunity can provide a challenging and fulfilling long-term career development path for the successful candidate.

    An Administrative Assistant at PFM (internally titled (“Associate”) is an integral team member who takes ownership of assigned tasks, possesses strong prioritization and excellent organizational skills, and is able to manage multiple, time-sensitive tasks from various team members.

    The ideal candidate would possess experience supporting multiple projects and working under various deadlines. We are seeking individuals with strong editing and formatting skills who enjoy and are proficient at learning new software/systems quickly.

     

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Prepare presentations, reports, proposals, contracts, and work products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat)
    • Maintain electronic and hard copy records
    • Schedule meetings and manage travel itineraries including flights, hotels, and car rentals
    • Assist managers with expense forms and timesheets
    • Correspondence – typing, mailing/faxing as necessary
    • Maintaining CRM database contacts
    • Coordinate conference and sponsorship registrations
    • Maintain an inventory of client marketing materials
    • Conduct basic research as requested by staff
    • Manage dissemination of important documents including contracts and reports

    Qualifications

    Preferably at least two years of administrative support experience (experience in financial services a plus)

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to quickly adapt to firm-specific software
    • Knowledge of secretarial and general office procedures
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities
    • Basic research and reporting skills
    • Ability to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff, clients,  and the general public
    • Editing & proofreading skills
