Responsibilities

Analysts at PFM are a critical part of the project teams that serve our broad base of clients while having a wide range of responsibilities. Analysts provide analytic resources and solutions that support key client engagements and transactions. Our asset management practice is currently seeking a qualified professional to join our investment team as an Analyst in the firm’s Portfolio Strategies Group.  This role is located in the firm’s headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.    

 

Analysts in the Portfolio Strategies Group are exposed to a demanding professional environment.  They work closely with senior managers to conduct market research and serve client relationships.  Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Conducting fixed-income market research
  • Developing, updating and running various EXCEL-based analytical models
  • Learning and using Bloomberg data and analytical functionality
  • Creating and assembling market update presentation materials for client distribution
  • Preparing quarterly portfolio performance report presentations for clients
  • Assisting in the evaluation of client/prospect portfolios

 

Analysts work and correspond with team members in the Portfolio Strategies Group, the firm’s trading personnel and portfolio managers, field marketing and client service representatives, and clients. Strong quantitative and problem solving skills are required. The individual selected for this position will have an opportunity to utilize their analytical skills, financial modeling skills, and interpretive abilities to provide innovative solutions to PFMAM’s institutional clients.

Qualifications

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics or any analytical related field is preferred
  • Strong academic background (minimum GPA 3.4/4.0)
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in finance or investments is desired, but not required (entry-level candidates with related internship experience will be considered)
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

PFM offers one of the most comprehensive training programs in the industry. We take a building block approach, starting with the broadest of financial concepts and progressing to in-depth study of the capital markets and public finance. Throughout the 8-10 week intensive training program, Analysts are introduced to different experts within PFM’s business lines. Not only will you gain exposure to project managers around the organization, you will gain a comprehensive perspective on the services PFM offers to its clients. PFM has many Managing Directors – including our current CEO – who started their careers in PFM’s Analyst training program.
