    PFM is currently recruiting entry-level and experienced Analysts  to provide quantitative and qualitative research and consulting support.  Analysts  work in direct contact with Managing Directors and other experienced project managers to develop and deliver ideas for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of state and local governments. 


    Responsibilities may include:


    • Operating and capital budget analysis
    • Workforce analysis
    • Revenue analysis and policy development
    • Policy analysis and research
    • Benchmarking and research
    • Quantitative modeling and analysis
    • Working closely with elected and appointed officials, managers and department staff
    • Communicating findings and recommendations to officials, their constituents, business or community groups and other stakeholders through written reports or public presentations.



    PFM offers Analysts  long-term career options.  A number of partners (Managing Directors) and project managers (Senior Managing Consultants, Directors) started with PFM as Analysts.  With the experience that PFM provides, experienced analysts and project managers may also apply the knowledge and skills they gain here to positions of leadership in the federal, state and local governments.


    The ideal candidate would have:


    • A minimum of an undergraduate degree with coursework in political science, economics, public policy and/or related areas of study (desired GPA of 3.25 or above). A graduate degree in the above areas is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability or interest in working with state and municipal governments on financial, operational and policy challenges, as evidenced by prior professional experience, internships or relevant academic coursework
    • Proven analytical abilities, including strong quantitative skills and an interest in quantitative analysis and modeling
    • Excellent writing ability and public presentation skills
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong work ethic, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision
    • Willingness to travel for client engagements as necessary
