Analysts at PFM are a critical part of the project teams that serve our broad base of clients while having a wide range of responsibilities. Analysts provide analytic resources and solutions that support key client engagements and transactions. Our asset management practice is currently seeking an entry-level professional for an Analyst position in the Structured Products Group, based in our Harrisburg office. Our group focuses on investment analytics, optimizing and procuring fixed-income portfolios, management of bond proceeds, and investment agreement advisory services. As a member of our team, you will be exposed to a fast-paced, goal-driven, and demanding professional environment. You will work with senior managers to build and maintain complex financial models and assist with business development. Responsibilities typically include:

  • Performing security- and portfolio-level analytics;
  • Structuring and optimizing portfolios;
  • Preparing and organizing transaction-based documents;
  • Modeling complex yield and cash flow schedules; and
  • Creating marketing presentations and providing support of business development efforts.


You will also support and interact with our portfolio management professionals while executing fixed-income transactions under dynamic, market-driven conditions. Opportunity for contact with colleagues and clients is a key element of the Analyst experience. You will gain a broad exposure to the public finance market and a wide range of investment and asset/liability management products.


Over time, PFM Analysts may assume greater responsibility within a business group, or they may transfer to a regional client service/marketing office. Today, professionals who began as Analysts at PFM are Managing Directors, Senior Marketing Representatives, Client Service Managers, Traders and Portfolio Managers - evidence that strong performers have the opportunity to pursue a variety of career paths at PFM.


  • A 4-year college degree with a strong academic background (minimum GPA 3.50/4.00 preferred)
  • 1-3 years of relevant post-graduate experience in investment management, banking, or a highly related field is desired, but not required (entry-level candidates with relevant internships will be considered)
  • Demonstrated interest in the capital markets, investment management, macroeconomics, public finance, government, mathematics, and/or financial modeling
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity and initiative
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and serving client needs ahead of your own
  • Ability to be productive independently or in a team environment

PFM offers one of the most comprehensive training programs in the industry. We take a building block approach, starting with the broadest of financial concepts and progressing to in-depth study of the capital markets and public finance. Throughout the 8-10 week intensive training program, Analysts are introduced to different experts within PFM’s business lines. Not only will you gain exposure to project managers around the organization, you will gain a comprehensive perspective on the services PFM offers to its clients. PFM has many Managing Directors – including our current CEO – who started their careers in PFM’s Analyst training program.
