PFM Asset Management LLC (“PFM”) is currently seeking a Relationship Manager to assist with new business development and client management for its investment advisory practice in Arizona. The role will work from our Chandler office, and affords the successful candidate an opportunity to work closely with the region's Managing Director and other seasoned professionals. PFM is a privately held registered investment advisor headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with offices around the country and is among the leading investment managers in the United States. PFM provides cash management, investment management and consulting services to local governments and other tax-exempt institutions.


For the period ending June 30, 2017, PFM Asset Management LLC had $119.6 billion in total assets, including $77.5 billion in discretionary assets under management and $42.1 billion in non-discretionary assets under advisement, consisting of short-term fixed income assets for operating funds and bond proceeds and longer-term multi-asset class portfolios.  For long-term assets, PFMAM manages multi-asset class portfolios primarily for pension funds, OPEB trusts and endowments/foundations.  Our longer-term multi-asset class business is referred to as “Multi-Asset Class Management” or “MACM”. PFM’s MACM business started in 2006 and now has more than $9 billion in institutional assets. In this capacity, we serve as a discretionary manager-of-managers for various types of plan sponsors countrywide.




  • Develop and expand our the short-term fixed-income business while maintaining existing relationships with investment management clients (primarily public agencies);
  • Collaborate with senior team members in all aspects of marketing , sales and client management; including but not limited to managing existing client relationships, preparing for and attending meetings, and ensuring appropriate follow up with clients and targets
  • Account Development (existing and new clients) - Develop direct customer relationships with key accounts and identify and develop relationships within those accounts with key decision making personnel
  • Presentations and Networking - Prepare presentations for prospective customers, and conferences which demonstrate the advantages, products, services, and capabilities of the firm
  • Work with our Client Service Group, accounting and trading desk to ensure smooth implementation of new clients and fulfilling the needs of current clients
  • Coordinate information flow between staff, clients, and PFM project and product managers on a regular basis;
  • Coordinate preparation of client reports and other written communications;
  • Present reports and other materials to clients at meetings;
  • Analyze various options to come up with optimal investment solutions for our clients;
  • Create innovative ways of educating clients and prospects on current market events and investment opportunities; and,
  • Support other sales, marketing and service activities as appropriate.



Qualified applicants should have extensive client-facing work experience, knowledge of the institutional fixed income investment market, and experience working in or with public sector and other institutional investors.


Additional skill and experience requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, a related field. Current CFA Charterholder or progression towards the CFA certification is a plus but not required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the finance industry, which should include 3 or more years of relationship management and business development experience, preferably in public sector/municipal finance, banking, investment management, trust or financial services arena, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Current, active Series 6 & 63 certifications, or the equivalent licensing, are desired, or must be willing to obtain as a requirement of employment in this role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equity and fixed income funds, short and intermediate term fixed income investments, and money market instruments.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and proactive with a desire to succeed and to grow within the firm.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary, bonus eligibility, and comprehensive benefits package. PFM also offers the option for participation in profit sharing and 401K plans.



The Relationship Manger will receive training in our Harrisburg, PA office and support team members in Arizona and New Mexico.  Relationship management opportunities will evolve to require extensive travel within the state of Arizona and periodically into New Mexico. Ultimately, the Relationship Manager will be based from our Arizona office.
