Overview

PFM Multi-Asset Class Management (MACM) is an institutional investment firm specializing in outsourced-CIO (OCIO) discretionary management in addition to investment advising. The MACM team manages over $8B in discretionary assets as well as $8B in assets consulted upon. Our particular area of expertise is amongst non- taxable entities including public governments, Taft-Hartley, Hospitals, Endowments, Foundations, and other government-related entities. The PFM MACM group is a division of PFM Asset Management LLC which manages more than $62B in discretionary fixed income assets.

Responsibilities

The position offered is as a junior analyst on our research team for a winter 2017 - spring 2018 internship. As a full-time intern you will be a fully integrated member of the team, expected to help with portfolio idea generation and implementation across multiple asset classes. The junior analyst will be expected to attend research committee and investment committee meetings where our portfolio strategists examine the current market environments and create investment themes to react accordingly.

 

He or she will also be afforded the opportunity to attend numerous investment manager due diligence meetings alongside our team. The intern will benefit greatly from being exposed to the thought processes of seasoned industry veterans and respected analysts. The intern position is responsible for in-depth asset-class specific research, such as understanding the characteristics of each investment area, identifying appropriate investments to utilize, and performing a comprehensive risk- analysis in a portfolio context.

 

He or she will also support various client representatives with research information they may require on a timely basis, to best deliver the outstanding service to clients that we pride ourselves on. We find that over the course of the six month tenure, many intern gravitate towards a particular investment area that interests them, something that we encourage and support. We feel that this intern position is an excellent way for a bright and motivated young professional to solidify a broad base of investment knowledge to enhance his/her career.
