ROLE DESCRIPTION
PFM is seeking an Accounting Manager to work in our Center City Philadelphia headquarters. The Accounting Manager will be a leader in the accounting department, assist in providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all firm activities that will assist management and other users in making educated economic decisions about the firm's future. This position will report to the Corporate Controller.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will:

  • Assist the Corporate Controller with oversight of the activities of the corporate accounting department related to the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly/quarterly financial statements and annual audits and budgets
  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting preparation where deemed appropriate
  • Serve as a lead contributor to an ERP implementation and implementing accounting process enhancements
  • Assist with the facilities management process by working with others around the firm on lease renewals and ensure appropriate accounting for such items
  • Assist with the daily cash balances management process
  • Assist with oversight of currency translations and intercompany transactions between the US and UK entities
  • Assist with fixed assets coordination and decisions related to capitalization versus expense and ensure appropriate accruals recorded 
  • Lead the software capitalization and revenue recognition process and perform appropriate accounting research when necessary
  • Assist the Corporate Controller with acquisition accounting research, memos and journal entries
  • Assist the Corporate Controller with technical accounting research
  • Assist the Corporate Controller with oversight of the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance
  • Assist the Corporate Controller with oversight of the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc; funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management
  • Assist in assuring corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
  • Assist with the insurance and business tax processes
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the firm’s value
  • Respond to the Corporate Controller as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Assist with other projects as deemed appropriate

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • A college degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field is required
  • CPA certification is required
  • 5 or more years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience with a public or private corporation or a professional services audit firm, preferably with a mix of both
  • Prior management experience of GL accounting functions and staff strongly desired
  • Demonstrated experience with Workday, a similar ERP system, or a related accounting system strongly desired

COMPENSATION
Compensation includes a competitive base salary, bonus eligibility, and comprehensive benefits package. PFM also offers the option for participation in profit sharing and 401K plans.
