Overview

PFM Asset Management LLC (“PFM”), an affiliate of The PFM Group, is currently seeking a Relationship Manager to assist with new business development and client management for its investment advisory practice in New Hampshire.  When not traveling, the Relationship Manager will work remotely from a home office. This position affords the successful candidate an opportunity to work closely with the region's Managing Directors and other seasoned professionals during periodic travel to PFM’s Boston, MA and Harrisburg, PA offices. Individuals interested in this role should be self-motivated and highly organized, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have demonstrated success building institutional client relationships.

PFM is a privately held registered investment advisor headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with offices around the country and is among the leading investment managers in the United States. PFM provides cash management, investment management and consulting services to local governments and other tax-exempt institutions. The company manages approximately $65 billion in discretionary assets, consisting of short-term fixed income assets for operating funds and bond proceeds and longer-term multi-asset class portfolios. The core of our New Hampshire business is our ongoing engagement to serve as investment advisor and marketing agent for the New Hampshire Public Deposit Investment Pool (NHPDIP), a local government investment pool.  We also offer separate account management to individual local governments and nonprofits in New Hampshire and we manage multi-asset class portfolios for retirement, endowment and foundation funds.

Responsibilities

Qualified applicants should have extensive client-facing work experience, knowledge of the institutional fixed income investment market, and have worked in or with public sector entities and other institutional investors.

 

Key Tasks include:

  • Develop and expand our NHPDIP clients and the short-term fixed-income business while maintaining existing relationships with investment management clients (primarily public agencies);
  • Collaborate with senior team members in all aspects of marketing, sales and client management; including but not limited to managing existing client relationships, preparing for and attending meetings, transcribing notes and ensuring appropriate follow up with clients and targets;
  • Account Development (existing and new clients) - Develop direct customer relationships with key accounts and identify and develop relationships within those accounts with key decision making personnel;
  • Presentations and Networking - Prepare presentations for prospective customers which demonstrate the advantages and capabilities of the company and its’ products and services;
  • Working with our Client Service Group, accounting and trading desk to ensure smooth implementation of new clients and fulfilling the needs of current clients;
  • Coordinate information flow between staff, clients, and PFM project and product managers on a regular basis;
  • Coordinate preparation of client reports and other written communications;
  • Present reports and other materials to clients at meetings;
  • Analyze various options to come up with optimal investment solutions for our clients;
  • Create innovative ways of educating clients and prospects on current market events and investment opportunities; and,
  • Support other sales, marketing and service activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related field.
  • 5 or more years of relationship management and business development experience, preferably in public sector/municipal finance, banking, investment management, trust or financial services arena, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Current, active Series 6 & 63 certifications are desired, or must be willing to obtain as a requirement of employment in this role
  • Knowledge of money market instruments, short and intermediate term fixed income investments, and equity and fixed income funds a plus.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and proactive with a desire to succeed and to grow within the firm.

COMPENSATION

Compensation includes a competitive base salary, bonus eligibility, and comprehensive benefits package. PFM also offers the option for participation in profit sharing and 401K plans.

 

JOB LOCATION

Extensive travel within PFM’s Northeast region, and particularly within the state of New Hampshire, is a requirement of this position. When not traveling, this person will work remotely from a home office.
